The beautiful array of colours, the nights drawing in, both signal that Autumn has arrived.
Even so, this change hasn’t ‘settled’ yet; one day the temperature has dropped, the sky is overcast, and the next day the sun is sharing its Autumnal glow and my washing is on the line again!
Change can be uncomfortable, it can take us a little while to ‘settle’ into our new circumstances.
Sometimes change is forced upon us, sometimes we make the big decision and other times change is subtle, gradual and we look back and wonder how or when it ‘occurred’.
Nevertheless, change is part of the natural cycle of life and it’s good for the soul.
What holds change back is resistance and fear.
The rich warm colours of Autumn reflect the colour of fire, the fire of transformation needed to move through resistance and fear before we emerge renewed. The fire of change burns away the old, the uncomfortably comforting that we desperately cling to, but when it’s cleared, and the dust has settled we look back and wonder why we held on for so long, how free we now feel.
Change is inevitable; it’s a balance of holding on, of letting go and of embracing opportunities to jump into the fire!
